Euskalduna Bilbao Bolsters Its Commitment to Sustainable Mobility with 22 New Electric Charging Points in Its Parking Facility

Bilbao, May 18, 2026

Euskalduna Bilbao has added 22 new charging points for electric vehicles to its parking facility, a move that continues the venue's ongoing infrastructure adaptation toward lower-impact mobility while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and service modernization. The installation provides a power output of up to 22 kW per charger and operates with a 100% ecological, green, and traceable energy supply.

With this initiative, Euskalduna Bilbao addresses an increasing demand among electric vehicle users, enabling visitors and guests to organize their routes more comfortably and efficiently. The new charging points are available to anyone accessing the parking facility with an electric vehicle, regardless of whether they are attending an event at the Palace, thereby expanding the charging network in a strategic area of the city center.

This project is part of Euskalduna Bilbao’s sustainability plan and aligns with one of the core objectives guiding the venue's evolution: progressing toward a more efficient public facility that is well-equipped and synchronized with environmental and urban mobility challenges. According to information provided by the technical team, the lack of charging infrastructure remains a primary obstacle to the widespread use of electric vehicles; therefore, this action aims to facilitate their adoption and contribute to the city’s decarbonization.

The installation was completed within one month and developed by a local company, a detail that further strengthens the project's connection to the local community. Euskalduna Bilbao provided the necessary civil engineering and facility preparations to launch the service, while the investment was undertaken by OnlyParking, the entity that will also manage the billing associated with the charging services.

Beyond the immediate service improvement, Euskalduna Bilbao has designed this initiative with a long-term vision. The demand and utilization of the charging points will be monitored to analyze the kilowatt-hours supplied, identify emerging needs, and adapt both the power capacity and the growth of the installation based on the real evolution of electric vehicle usage among its patrons. Consequently, the system is built with scalability and adaptability in mind, catering to a shifting mobility landscape.

With this addition, Euskalduna Bilbao reinforces the message that summarizes its approach to sustainability: Being green makes sense. In this instance, that philosophy translates into a concrete action to enhance service, expand charging options in Bilbao, and move toward a public infrastructure model that is more responsible toward the environment.
