Today we experienced a very special day at Euskalduna Bilbao: we have presented the 18th edition of the BBK Mendi Film Bilbao Bizkaia, which will take place from December 5 to 14 and will transform our palace into an authentic Base Camp for Mountain Culture.
During the press conference, Jabier Baraiazarra and Aitor Elduaien unveiled the programme, which includes 55 films, premieres of Basque cinema, parallel activities, exhibitions, and sessions for the whole family.
We also learned the data regarding the festival’s impact: in 2024, it generated nearly one million euros in Bizkaia, created employment, and reaffirmed its role as a cultural ambassador for Bilbao and the Basque Country. The community of Mendizales (Mountain Lovers) continues to grow: the Mendi Tour has gathered 14,000 spectators this year across 49 venues throughout Spain.
As Iñigo Iturrate, General Director of Euskalduna Bilbao, emphasises:
“Mendi Film finds its perfect home at Euskalduna: a space open to culture, ideas, and creativity. During those days, our palace becomes a meeting point for mountain and cinema lovers, a place where Bilbao shares its cultural identity with the world.”
This edition promises to move us and bring the mountains closer to all audiences, from major screenings to workshops and sessions for the little ones.
