Euskalduna Bilbao was one of the main venues for the European Museum of the Year Awards (EMYA) 2026 conferences and awards, held in Bilbao from 10 to 14 June under the theme “Transforming the Museum: Total Inclusion”. The event brought together museum professionals and representatives from across Europe to share experiences and reflect on the role of museums as spaces for inclusion, dialogue and education.
The 34 nominated museums from 17 countries presented their projects and took part in panel discussions and conferences focused on accessibility, citizen participation, human rights and new ways of connecting heritage with society.
The event concluded with the EMYA 2026 Awards Ceremony, held at Euskalduna Bilbao, further strengthening the venue’s position as an international meeting point for knowledge exchange and innovation in the museum sector.
