XVIII CONGRESO DE LA SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA PARA LAS CIENCIAS DEL ANIMAL DE LABORATORIO

November 18-21

Congress or meeting information

The Spanish Society for Laboratory Animal Science (SECAL), founded in 1989, is holding its next national congress in Euskalduna Bilbao, consolidating its position as the main forum for professionals dedicated to the use and care of laboratory animals. With more than 600 members, SECAL brings together caregivers, technicians, researchers and those responsible for scientific facilities, from both public and private institutions.

This edition of the congress is inspired by the ‘One Health’ approach, also embodied in the official logo of the event, promoting an integrative vision that connects human, animal and environmental health. Under this concept, an interdisciplinary dialogue will be promoted, highlighting the contribution of the use of animal models to advance in the treatment of diseases that affect humans, where stroke and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis will occupy a prominent place in the programme of this edition.

In addition, thanks to the close collaboration between SECAL and the Spanish Biosafety Association (AEBios), the programme will include specific sessions on biosafety in animal facilities, guaranteeing spaces for reflection and updating on best practices and working conditions in the sector.

Bilbao will be the perfect meeting place to update knowledge, share experiences and establish synergies around the ethical and rational use of laboratory animals, always at the service of human and animal health.
